Development Academy

The session is all about maximising the number of touches of the ball. We aim for each player to have a minimum of 500 touches which will give them the confidence to try new skills and manipulate the ball in tight areas. We will constantly be putting the players into 1 vs 1 duels so that they can master the hardest part of the game. We believe that putting players into realistic game situations will improve their ability to dominate opposition players and maximise enjoyment throughout the session.

This class includes activities that will improve our players footwork, balance, coordination and their overall ability to control their body in order to become a more powerful and explosive athlete. Improving a players physical attributes is an integral part of a players development.

Mastering the basics is a big part of Yefa’s philosophy and the technique of receiving the ball is vital for players to succeed. Before we pass, dribble, run with or shoot we always receive the ball and players are constantly reminded of the principles of receiving the ball so that they can deal under high pressure and limited spaces.

This class is all about replicating the game by introducing practices to our players that they are able to express what they have worked on previously in the session. Practices include, playing out of the back, switching play, attacking in the final third, pressing from the front along with other topics covered in football. This gives players the opportunity to put in a real situation where our coaches add the relevant detail to get the desired outcome.

This gives our players the perfect opportunity to implement all the skills they have learned in the session. This will be overseen by our YEFA coaches by adding in detail and showing where and when to use those skills. Our philosophy will always be encouraged and will ensure that this is engrained into our players .
